Drax Project

Drax Project is a pop and R&B band from Wellington, New Zealand, formed by music students who started out busking on the streets with drums and saxophone. That live, groove-driven origin still defines their sound, which blends smooth R&B vocals with horn hooks and upbeat pop production.

The band built its profile through relentless live performance, opening for artists such as Ed Sheeran, Camila Cabello, Lorde and Christina Aguilera, while releasing buzz singles through Universal. Their breakthrough single «Woke Up Late» won Single of the Year at the 2018 New Zealand Music Awards, cementing them as one of the most closely watched acts to emerge from New Zealand in recent years.

After the EP NOON, released on 300 Entertainment, the band went on to release its debut album, further developing their signature mix of saxophone-led pop, R&B melodies and feel-good energy. Songs like «Catching Feelings» and «Firefly» showcase the tight musicianship and stage chemistry that made their name as a live act before they were a studio one.
