Dr Zeus

Dr Zeus, born Baljit Singh Padam, is a British Indian music composer, singer and producer who rose to prominence in 2003 with «Kangna», a song that was voted the best track on BBC Asian Network that year. He became a central figure in the Punjabi music scene, blending traditional bhangra elements with UK urban production, bringing Punjabi music to a much wider international audience.

His sound is defined by punchy, club-ready beats layered under Punjabi vocals and instrumentation, frequently pulling in dancehall, hip-hop and R&B influences — a fusion heard across hits like «Naina», «Lado Rani» and «Woofer». He has also worked across Bollywood and regional Indian music circuits, with songs like «Mera deewanapan» reflecting his crossover appeal between Punjabi and Hindi audiences.

Over the course of his career, Dr Zeus has become known for reworking his own hits into new versions, as with the acoustic mix of «Kangna», and for collaborating widely with singers across the Punjabi and Bollywood scenes, cementing his role as one of the key producers bridging British Asian and South Asian pop music.
