Dr. Alban

Dr. Alban, born Alban Uzoma Nwapa in Nigeria, is a Sweden-based musician and producer who became one of the defining voices of early-1990s Eurodance. Originally trained as a dentist before moving fully into music, he built a sound that fused hip-hop, reggae-inflected dancehall vocals and pulsing club-oriented production, standing out in the Eurodance scene for its rhythmic toasting style layered over energetic dance beats.

His breakthrough came with «It's My Life», a worldwide hit from the album One Love that became an anthem of the era and remains his best-known song decades later, still played across dance floors and radio formats worldwide. The track's blend of an assertive vocal hook with driving Eurodance production helped define the genre's commercial peak alongside contemporaries of the time.

Dr. Alban continued releasing music through his own label, extending his catalogue with further club and radio hits while also being recognized in Sweden for representing the country at Eurovision. His work helped bring Afro-Caribbean vocal styles into the mainstream European dance scene, and «It's My Life» in particular has endured as a genre staple sampled and referenced well beyond its original release.
