Don Omar

Don Omar, born William Omar Landrón Rivera in Puerto Rico, is a singer, songwriter and producer widely regarded as one of the most influential figures in reggaeton. He rose to prominence in the early 2000s as the genre moved from underground scenes into the mainstream, becoming known for a commanding vocal delivery and a persona that earned him the nickname El Rey.

His best-known song, «Danza Kuduro», featuring Lucenzo, became a worldwide crossover hit after appearing in the Fast & Furious film franchise, alongside his earlier track «Salio el Sol», which was featured in Fast & Furious: Tokyo Drift. Other major hits including «Bandoleros», «Dile» and «Virtual Diva» cemented his catalogue as a foundation of 2000s and early-2010s reggaeton.

Don Omar's sound blends reggaeton's dembow rhythm with elements of hip-hop, R&B and Latin pop, and his work helped bring the genre to international audiences well before its later global explosion. Beyond music, he has also pursued acting and entrepreneurial ventures, but remains best known for a catalogue of reggaeton anthems that shaped the genre's sound for a generation of artists that followed.
