Don Henley

Don Henley, born July 22, 1947, is an American singer-songwriter, drummer and producer best known as a founding member of the Eagles, one of the best-selling rock bands in history. He served as the band's drummer and one of its lead vocalists from its formation in 1971 through its breakup in 1980, and again after its 1994 reunion, singing on Eagles classics known for their blend of country, folk and rock influences with polished, harmony-rich production.

As a solo artist, Henley built a distinct and successful catalog beginning in the early 1980s, moving toward a more contemporary, synth-inflected rock and pop sound while retaining sharp, socially observant songwriting. Songs like «The Boys of Summer», «Dirty Laundry» and «The Heart of the Matter» showcased his introspective lyricism and became defining tracks of the era, while «The End of the Innocence» further cemented his reputation as a mature, socially conscious songwriter.
