Djo

Djo is the musical alias of Joe Keery, an American actor and musician best known for playing Steve Harrington on Netflix's Stranger Things. Before stepping into the spotlight as an actor, Keery had already been immersed in music, picking up guitar as a teenager and later forming the psych-rock band Post Animal while studying at DePaul University in Chicago. Post Animal released a self-titled EP in 2015 and built a following on the DIY and festival circuit, sharing stages with acts like Twin Peaks and Cage The Elephant.

As his acting career took off, Keery stepped back from the group to avoid overshadowing his bandmates, and channeled his songwriting into a solo project under the name Djo. His music blends psychedelic rock, glammy pop, and electronic textures, drawing comparisons to Tame Impala and Beck while carving out its own hazy, nostalgic identity. Songs like «Roddy», «Chateau (Feel Alright)», and «Delete Ya» showcase his knack for warm melodies and layered production.

Djo reached a new level of visibility with «End of Beginning», a song that became a viral hit thanks to its evocative Chicago references and dreamy atmosphere.
