DJ Smash

DJ Smash, born Andrei Leonidovich Shirman on 23 May 1982 in Perm, is one of Russia's most prominent DJs, composers and music producers. He rose to national prominence in the mid-2000s with a dance remix of Yuri Antonov's «Летящей походкой», which brought electronic dance music into the Russian mainstream and established him as a fixture of the country's club and radio scene.

Over the following decade DJ Smash built a catalogue that blends European-style progressive house and electro with pop songwriting aimed at a broad Russian-speaking audience, often working with vocalists to give his tracks a radio-friendly hook rather than staying purely instrumental. His singles «Волна (Wave)», «CO2» and «Позвони (Call me)» became staples of Russian pop-electronic radio, and his work has been recognized at national industry events including the МУЗ ТВ awards, where he won in multiple categories in June 2013.

In the 2020s he continued to adapt to a changing music landscape, notably releasing the 2021 track and video «Новая Волна (New Wave)» as a collaboration with rapper MORGENSHTERN and singer Людмила Соколова, pairing his dance-pop instincts with a younger hip-hop-adjacent audience. He has also collaborated with acts like Карнавал, underscoring his role as a connector between generations and genres within Russian pop and electronic music.
