Дискотека Авария (Diskoteka Avaria)

Дискотека Авария (Diskoteka Avaria) is a Russian musical group founded in 1990, one of the most recognizable acts in Russian pop and dance music of the past three decades. The band began as a duo formed by Alexei Ryzhov and Nikolai Timofeyev, built around danceable, humor-driven tracks that stood apart from the more serious pop and rock scene of the early post-Soviet years. In 1992 the group was joined by Oleg Zhukov, who quickly became its most vivid and recognizable frontman, and later by Alexei Serov, cementing the classic lineup that carried the band through its most successful period.

Their 1997 debut album «Танцуй со мной» (Dance With Me) established their trademark blend of dance beats, electronic textures, and witty, often ironic lyrics, a formula that brought them enormous popularity across Russia and repeated wins at major national music awards including Muz-TV, Golden Gramophone, and Song of the Year. Zhukov's death in 2002 after a long illness was a significant blow to the group, prompting a pause before they resumed activity and eventually released the 2006 album «Четверо парней» (Four Guys) in his memory.

Over the following years Дискотека Авария continued evolving, moving from purely dance-oriented material toward a broader pop sound while retaining the playful, ironic sensibility that defined their early work. Songs like «Малинки» and «Небо» became staples of Russian pop radio, and the group's mix of comedic energy and dance-pop craftsmanship kept them a fixture of the national music scene well into the 2010s, with the 2011 album «Недетское время» marking a later chapter in their long career.
