Dick Van Dyke

Dick Van Dyke is an American actor, comedian and dancer best known for his work in film, television and stage across more than seven decades. He rose to fame with the television sitcom that bore his name in the early 1960s, and soon after became one of Hollywood's most beloved musical performers through his roles in family classics.

His most enduring musical legacy comes from two films: as chimney sweep Bert in «Mary Poppins» (1964), where he performed songs like «Chim Chim Cher-ee», «Step in Time» and «Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious», and as inventor Caractacus Potts in «Chitty Chitty Bang Bang» (1968), singing the title number and «Hushabye Mountain». These performances, marked by his warm voice, physical comedy and old-school music-hall charm, made him a defining voice of mid-century family musical cinema even though he was not primarily known as a recording artist.
