Diane Guerrero

Diane Guerrero is an American actress born on July 21, 1986, in New Jersey to Colombian immigrant parents. When she was fourteen, her parents and older brother were deported, a formative experience that left her growing up on her own in Boston with the help of family friends and later shaped her public advocacy for immigration reform. She detailed this period in her 2016 memoir, «In the Country We Love: My Family Divided».

Guerrero built her acting career primarily on television, becoming widely known for playing inmate Maritza Ramos on the Netflix series Orange Is the New Black, a role that was part of an ensemble recognized with three consecutive Screen Actors Guild Awards. She also had a long-running part as Lina, the lifelong best friend of the title character, on The CW's Jane the Virgin. Her work spans both comedic and dramatic television roles.

Her profile expanded into film and music-adjacent work through voice acting, most notably as Isabela Madrigal in Disney's 2021 animated film Encanto, for which she also contributed vocals to two songs on the soundtrack.
