About the artist
Diana Gurtskaya is a Russian pop singer born on July 2, 1978, in Sukhumi, in what was then the Georgian SSR. Blind from birth, she moved with her family to Vladikavkaz as a child and later studied vocals in Moscow, building a career that made her one of the most recognizable voices in Russian-language pop music from the late 1990s onward. Her rise coincided with a wave of emotionally driven, melodic estrada pop, a style her warm, powerful voice suited especially well.
Gurtskaya became known for sentimental ballads and duets, often performing alongside major names in Russian pop and appearing regularly on television and at large-scale concerts. Songs such as «Нежная» (Gentle) and «Ты знаешь, мама» (You Know, Mom) reflect the tender, personal themes that run through much of her catalogue. She has also recorded material with international and crossover appeal, including English-language work like «Peace Will Come».
Beyond music, Gurtskaya is widely known in Russia for her charitable work supporting people with visual impairments, heading a foundation dedicated to that cause. She holds the title of Honored Artist of Russia, recognizing both her artistic career and her public advocacy.
