Dermot Kennedy

Dermot Kennedy is an Irish singer-songwriter from the foothills of the Wicklow Mountains, now based in Dublin. He began pursuing music seriously in his late teens, studying classical music before busking around Dublin to fund early studio sessions. Those recordings became his first singles, released independently and later through EPs such as «Doves & Ravens» and «Mike Dean Presents Dermot Kennedy», the latter shaped by his collaboration with veteran hip-hop producer Mike Dean.

Kennedy's sound blends folk songwriting roots with atmospheric, hip-hop-influenced production, giving his raspy, emotive voice a widescreen setting somewhere between intimate acoustic balladry and anthemic pop. Songs like «Power Over Me» and «Glory» showcase this fusion, pairing confessional lyrics about love and vulnerability with layered, cinematic arrangements.

His 2019 debut album «Without Fear» consolidated his rise from busker to festival headliner, cementing his place among a wave of Irish artists blending traditional songwriting with modern production sensibilities.
