About the artist
Debby Ryan is an American actress and singer-songwriter from Huntsville, Alabama, born in 1993. She began performing in professional theater as a child and was later discovered by Disney Channel, going on to appear in several Disney television series and films. Her best-known role came as the lead of the Disney Channel sitcom Jessie, which aired from 2011 to 2015 and made her widely recognized among a young audience.
Alongside acting, Ryan pursued music, most notably as frontwoman and songwriter of The Never Ending, an indie folk band she formed in 2013 with several bandmates. The group released music and performed together for a few years before disbanding, with a sound rooted in intimate, guitar-driven indie folk rather than the pop production typical of Disney-affiliated stars.
After the band’s breakup, Ryan returned her focus primarily to acting, taking on further film and television roles, including work with Netflix. Across her career she has been recognized both as a familiar face of Disney Channel’s 2010s programming and as a performer who explored music outside the usual teen-pop mold associated with that world.
