About the artist
Dave Rodgers is the stage name of Giancarlo Pasquini, an Italian producer, songwriter and vocalist born in 1963, widely regarded as one of the driving forces behind the eurobeat and italo disco sound. He began his career in the early 1980s as a writer and singer for the band Aleph, drawing inspiration from artists like David Bowie, Genesis and Quincy Jones rather than setting out deliberately to make disco music.
In the 1990s Pasquini co-founded the label A.Beat-C. together with Alessandra Mirka Gatti, giving him an independent platform to write and produce prolifically. Under the Dave Rodgers name he became known for high-energy, synth-driven eurobeat tracks built around soaring vocal hooks and relentless tempos, a formula that made him a defining voice of the genre often nicknamed the Godfather of Eurobeat.
His best-known song, «Déjà Vu», gained international recognition through its use in the Initial D anime series, helping introduce eurobeat to a global audience. Alongside «Déjà Vu», tracks such as «Beat of the Rising Sun», «Killing My Love» and «Space Boy» cemented his reputation. Over his career Rodgers has been credited on more than a thousand tracks, making him one of the most prolific figures in the genre.
