Dave Malloy

Dave Malloy is an American composer, lyricist, orchestrator and performer known for pioneering a distinctive strand of sung-through, genre-blending musical theater. He first gained wide recognition for «Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812», an immersive electropop-and-folk adaptation of a section of Tolstoy's «War and Peace», which began off-Broadway before transferring to Broadway and earning multiple Tony Award nominations.

Malloy's work is defined by dense, through-composed scores that fuse classical Russian musical color, indie-folk, electronic textures and cabaret, often performed in immersive or non-traditional staging that breaks down the wall between performers and audience.
