About the artist
Dan Truhitte is an American actor and singer best known for playing Rolf Gruber, the young telegram delivery boy and love interest of Liesl von Trapp, in the 1965 film adaptation of «The Sound of Music». His performance of the duet «Sixteen Going on Seventeen» opposite Charmian Carr remains one of the most enduring numbers from the film.
Truhitte's career was largely defined by this single, culturally massive role. «The Sound of Music» became one of the highest-grossing and most beloved musicals in film history, and Truhitte's association with «Sixteen Going on Seventeen» has followed him throughout his life, including at fan conventions and reunions with the film's cast.
Beyond the film, Truhitte worked in stage and regional theater, but it is his brief screen turn as Rolf — the film's most morally complex young character, who ultimately sides with the Nazi party by the story's end — that secured his place in cinema history and in the memory of generations of «Sound of Music» fans.
