Dan Bălan is a Moldovan singer, songwriter, and record producer born on 6 February 1979, who rose to fame as the founder of the eurodance group O-Zone. He wrote and produced the trio’s international smash «Dragostea Din Tei», a track sung in Romanian that became a global viral phenomenon in the mid-2000s, topping charts across dozens of countries and turning O-Zone into one of Eastern Europe’s most recognizable pop exports.

After O-Zone disbanded, Bălan continued as a solo artist, moving between Europop, dance, and rock-tinged production. His solo hits «Chica Bomb» and «Justify Sex» kept him visible on European charts, while releases such as «Numa Numa 2» revisited and reworked the sound that first made him famous. His catalogue also includes Russian-language material, including songs like «Люби» and «Лепестками слёз», reflecting his reach across both Romanian- and Russian-speaking audiences.
