Cœur de Pirate

Cœur de pirate is the stage name of Béatrice Martin, a French-Canadian singer-songwriter and pianist from Quebec. She emerged in the late 2000s with a self-titled debut that blended chanson française, pop and a classically trained piano style, quickly making her one of the most recognizable voices in francophone pop both in Canada and in France. Her songwriting favors intimate, melancholic melodies built around piano, paired with a warm, slightly husky vocal delivery.

Over the following albums she broadened her sound, incorporating more electronic and rock textures while keeping her lyrics personal and often bittersweet, addressing love, loss and identity.
