About the artist
Culcha Candela are a German multicultural collective formed in Berlin in 2003, blending hip-hop, reggae, dancehall and Latin rhythms into a distinctive party sound. The lineup brought together members with roots in Colombia, Uganda, Poland, Korea and Germany, which shaped both their multilingual lyrics (German, English and Spanish) and their explicitly multicultural, socially engaged message.
The group broke through with anthemic singles such as «Hamma!», «Monsta» and «Berlin City Girl», becoming a fixture of German mainstream radio and festival stages. Their sound favors upbeat, danceable grooves over heavy political messaging, though inclusivity and cultural mixing remain central to their identity.
Over two decades Culcha Candela released a string of albums following their 2004 debut «Union Verdadera», continuing to tour and record while several members pursued side projects, making them one of the longest-running acts in the German urban and reggae-pop scene.
