About the artist
Crywolf is the recording project of Justin Taylor Phillips, an American musician who began as an uptempo dubstep producer before evolving into a genre-blending electronic and alternative artist. After his debut EP Ghosts, his sound shifted decisively away from mainstream electronic dance conventions toward more experimental, emotionally driven songwriting.
His 2015 debut album Cataclasm marked a full stylistic pivot, trading dancefloor energy for slower tempos, cinematic atmosphere and introspective lyricism, establishing the template that would define his later work. The 2017 EP Skeletons refined this direction further, blending orchestral and cinematic textures with a return to some of his earlier electronic instincts, resulting in a sound that sits between ambient electronica, alt-pop and atmospheric rock.
Crywolf's music, including tracks such as «Stomach It» and «Neverland», is known for its introspective, often melancholic themes and layered production, and his song “Whisper” gained wider exposure after being featured in Lifetime's 2014 film The Choking Game. He has built a dedicated following through his willingness to reinvent his sound across releases rather than repeat a single formula.
