Crystal Waters

Crystal Waters is an American house music vocalist who became one of the genre's defining voices in the early 1990s. Her debut single «Gypsy Woman (She's Homeless)», from her first album Surprise, became a global crossover hit, reaching the top ten on the US Billboard Hot 100 and number two on the UK Singles Chart, and its distinctive “la da dee la da da” hook made it a lasting dance-pop touchstone referenced in television shows and video games for years afterward.

Her sophomore album Storyteller, released in 1994, won Vibe's Music Poll for Best Club/Dance Album and produced the hit «100% Pure Love», which reached the top of the US dance charts and the top twenty of the Hot 100, alongside further club favorites like «What I Need» and «Ghetto Day». Waters's style blends soulful, socially conscious lyrics with polished house production, distinguishing her from more purely instrumental dance acts of the era.
