About the artist
Cosmo Sheldrake is an English musician, composer, and multi-instrumentalist born in Hampstead, London, in December 1989. Raised in a family with a strong scientific and artistic bent, he began playing piano by ear at age four and has since become proficient on dozens of instruments, developing a distinctive, playful approach to composition rooted in field recordings, found sound, and unconventional source material such as animal calls and natural acoustics.
He released his debut single, «The Moss», in 2014, followed by a series of EPs before his first full-length album, «The Much Much How How and I», arrived in 2018. His music blends folk, electronic, and orchestral elements into dense, collage-like arrangements, often built from sampled and manipulated everyday sounds, earning him a reputation as one of British music's more inventive and eclectic songwriters. His work frequently touches on ecological and natural themes, reflecting a longstanding interest in the natural world.
In 2020, Sheldrake formed the duo Wake with musician Flora Wallace. He has also composed for film, theatre, and installation projects, and continues to release solo material that pushes his collage-based, genre-blurring style further, cementing his place as a singular voice in contemporary British experimental pop.
