Corona (Band)

Corona is an Italian Eurodance act, formed in the early 1990s by producer Francesco Bontempi (known as Checco), with Brazilian-born singer and model Olga Souza fronting the group on its biggest hits. Corona became one of the defining acts of the Eurodance boom of the mid-1990s, riding a wave of Italian dance-pop productions that dominated European charts.

Their signature song, «The Rhythm of the Night», released in 1993, became a massive international hit, propelled by its instantly recognizable synth hook and euphoric, four-on-the-floor energy typical of the genre. The follow-up single «Baby Baby» further cemented their commercial success, and both tracks remain staples of 1990s dance nostalgia and Eurodance retrospectives.

Corona's sound epitomized the era's blend of catchy vocal hooks, upbeat tempos and glossy synthesizer production, aimed squarely at radio and club play across Europe. While the lineup and public face of the project shifted over the years, as is common in producer-driven Eurodance acts, the Corona name and its early-90s hits remain closely tied to the genre's commercial peak.
