Color Me Badd

Color Me Badd is an American R&B vocal group formed in 1985 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, featuring lead singer Bryan Abrams, tenor Mark Calderon, second tenor Sam Watters, and baritone Kevin Thornton. The quartet became a defining act of the New Jack Swing and vocal-harmony era at the turn of the 1990s, known for smooth close-harmony arrangements layered over R&B and hip-hop-inflected production.

The group broke through in 1991 with «I Wanna Sex You Up», featured on the New Jack City soundtrack, which became a massive crossover hit and launched their debut album C.M.B.. That record also produced the ballads «I Adore Mi Amor» and «All 4 Love», both reaching number one on the US charts, establishing Color Me Badd as one of the most commercially successful vocal groups of the early 1990s alongside acts like Boyz II Men.

They continued with the albums Time and Chance and Now & Forever through the 1990s, refining their blend of romantic balladry and upbeat R&B before disbanding in 1998. The group reunited in 2010 and has performed with various lineups since, remaining a nostalgic touchstone of the New Jack Swing sound.
