Coez

Coez is the stage name of Silvano Albanese, an Italian singer-songwriter and rapper born in the Salerno area and raised in Rome. He first connected with hip-hop culture through graffiti writing before moving into rap, forming the group Circolo Vizioso in his late teens and later joining the Brokenspeakers collective. His solo career shifted him from a purely rap approach toward a more melodic, pop-leaning cantautore style, marked by introspective lyrics often touching on family, absence, and personal struggle.

His 2013 album «Non erano fiori», produced by Riccardo Sinigallia, marked a turning point, cementing his move toward sung vocals over rapped verses and establishing the sound that would define his later career: intimate, melancholic, and radio-friendly at once. Songs such as «La musica non c’è» and «Le luci della città» became widely known, showing his knack for blending pop hooks with rap-honed lyrical density.

Coez occupies a distinctive space in Italian music, bridging the hip-hop scene he emerged from with mainstream Italian pop songwriting. His work has resonated with a broad Italian audience for its emotional honesty and accessible melodies, making him one of the notable figures to cross from underground rap collectives into pop stardom.
