About the artist
CLC (short for «CrystaL Clear») was a South Korean girl group under Cube Entertainment, active from their 2015 debut through their contract expiration in 2022. At their peak the lineup featured seven members — Seunghee, Elkie, Yujin, Seungyeon, Sorn, Yeeun and Eunbin — drawn from South Korea and, notably, from Hong Kong and Thailand, giving the group a more international makeup than many of their peers.
CLC's sound leaned into attitude and edge, favouring beat-forward, dance-driven anthems over the softer balladry common in K-pop, with songs like «Black Dress», «Devil» and «Helicopter» showcasing their confident, girl-crush image. Their commercial breakthrough came with 2019's «No», which reached the Top Five in South Korea and also charted on Billboard's U.S. World Chart, while landing them on the Indie and Heatseekers lists.
Despite strong critical goodwill and a devoted fanbase, CLC never fully broke through commercially before Cube's members individually decided not to renew their contracts in 2022, effectively ending the group. They remain remembered as an underrated act whose sharp choreography and hard-edged pop sound distinguished them within a crowded girl-group era.
