Clarence Clarity

Clarence Clarity is a London-based producer, singer, and songwriter known for a maximalist, glitch-heavy strand of alternative R&B and pop. Before adopting this name he recorded as Entrepreneurs and fronted the band Elle Milano, and he has released music under the Clarence Clarity moniker since the early 2010s. His sound layers distorted vocal edits, abrupt tempo shifts, and dense electronic production into songs that feel simultaneously catchy and destabilized, drawing comparisons to a collapsing, sugar-rush version of pop music.

He debuted with the EPs SAVE †HYSELF and Who Am Eye before releasing his acclaimed first album, NO NOW, in 2015, which established his reputation as an idiosyncratic studio auteur working largely outside the mainstream machine. He followed it with a second album, THINK: PEACE, in 2018, alongside a sprawling string of standalone singles that he eventually gathered together as a loose project called Leave Earth.

Beyond his solo work, Clarence Clarity has built a reputation as a producer for other artists, most notably helming Rina Sawayama’s early EP RINA, helping shape the hyper-digital, maximalist pop aesthetic that would come to define part of the 2010s underground pop scene.
