Chronixx

Chronixx, born Jamar Rolando McNaughton on October 10, 1992, is a Jamaican reggae singer widely credited with leading a revival of roots reggae for a new generation. Raised in a musical household as the son of dancehall artist Chronicle, he grew up surrounded by figures like Burro Banton, Norris Man, and Gregory Isaacs, and began recording as a teenager under the mentorship of producer Danny Browne. Before establishing himself as a lead vocalist, he worked behind the scenes, providing production and backing vocals for artists such as Konshens, Munga Honorable, and Popcaan.

Chronixx's sound draws deeply on classic roots reggae while incorporating contemporary production, blending conscious lyricism about spirituality, social justice, and Jamaican identity with warm, melodic songwriting. Songs like Here Comes Trouble and They Don't Know helped bring him international attention as part of the so-called Reggae Revival movement, a wave of young Jamaican artists returning to the genre's cultural and musical roots after a period dominated by dancehall.

His rise was shaped in part by personal loss, including the deaths of his brother in 2007 and a close collaborator in 2010, experiences that pushed him to focus fully on his own voice as an artist. Since then, Chronixx has become one of reggae's most prominent contemporary ambassadors, known for thoughtful songwriting, charismatic live performances, and a commitment to carrying forward Jamaica's roots music tradition for a global audience.
