Christy Moore

Christy Moore is an Irish singer-songwriter and one of the most influential figures in modern Irish folk music. He rose to prominence in the 1970s as a member of the pioneering folk group Planxty, and later co-founded the folk-rock band Moving Hearts, before establishing an enormously successful solo career that has made him a household name in Ireland.

Moore's music blends traditional Irish balladry with a strong social and political conscience, tackling themes of emigration, injustice, rebellion and everyday Irish life. Songs like «Ride On», «Ordinary Man» and «Viva la Quinta Brigada» showcase his distinctive rough-edged voice and his gift for storytelling, whether in original compositions or in his interpretations of songs by other writers.

As a solo artist, Moore has released a long string of acclaimed albums and become known for intimate, powerful live performances, often accompanying himself on guitar and bodhrán.
