Chinmayi

Chinmayi Sripada, known simply as Chinmayi, is an Indian playback singer whose career spans Tamil, Telugu, Hindi and several other South Indian languages. Born in Vizianagaram, Andhra Pradesh, she trained in Carnatic music from an early age and rose to prominence in the Tamil film industry in the 2000s, becoming one of the most recorded female voices in South Indian cinema. Her singing is prized for its clarity, emotional range and versatility, moving comfortably between soft romantic melodies and more energetic, rhythm-driven numbers.

She has worked extensively with leading South Indian composers, lending her voice to soundtracks across a huge range of hit films, and has also sung in Hindi and Marathi productions, extending her reach beyond the Tamil and Telugu industries. Songs such as «Idhayathai Yedho Ondru» and «Manasulone Nilichipoke» are among the tracks that helped establish her as a leading playback voice of her generation.

Beyond singing, Chinmayi is known in India as a vocal public figure, including for her involvement in the country's MeToo movement within the film industry, which brought her wider recognition outside music circles. She continues to be active as a singer, dubbing artist and media personality.
