About the artist
Charlotte de Witte is a Belgian DJ and producer who became one of the defining figures of contemporary techno in the late 2010s and 2020s. Born in 1992 near Ghent, she started out under the alias Raving George before switching to her own name and building a reputation through relentless touring, festival headline slots, and a stripped-down, driving production style rooted in classic Detroit and European techno.
Her sound favors hypnotic, hard-hitting rhythms and minimal melodic elements, aimed squarely at the club rather than the radio, which is why she is often nicknamed the Techno Queen. She founded the label and platform KNTXT to release her own material and showcase like-minded artists, and she has become one of the most-streamed and most-booked techno DJs in the world, regularly topping industry polls in the genre.
Beyond her club sets, she has released tracks and remixes that circulate widely among dance producers, and her rise is frequently cited as part of a broader wave that brought hard techno back into the mainstream festival circuit after years of tech-house and melodic-techno dominance.
