About the artist
Cashmere Cat, born Magnus August Høiberg, is a Norwegian producer, DJ, and musician who rose from a competitive turntablist background — he represented Norway at the DMC World DJ Championships — to become one of electronic pop's most in-demand studio minds. He originally performed under the Norwegian moniker «Katten» before adopting the more internationally legible Cashmere Cat name. His early remixes and edits of songs by artists like Lana Del Rey, 2 Chainz, and Jeremih caught the ear of the electronic music scene around 2012.
His 2012 debut EP «Mirror Maru» established his signature style: skittering, glassy percussion, pitched-up vocal chops, and a sense of melodic sweetness that set him apart from harsher strains of EDM and trap. That sound made him a natural collaborator for pop and R&B artists, and he went on to produce and write for major names while building a catalog of his own singles.
His debut studio album «9», released in 2017, brought together an all-star roster of guest vocalists and cemented his reputation as a producer who could bridge underground electronic music with pop songwriting. He followed it with the 2019 album «Princess Catgirl», continuing to refine his blend of intricate production and emotionally direct melody.
