CARYS, born Aviva Chiara Mongillo on February 6, 1998, in Markham, Canada, is a singer-songwriter and actress who works across pop, rock and electronic influences. She began releasing music under the name Aviva, putting out the EP «Songs About Boys» in 2017, before rebranding as CARYS in 2019 with the single «Bad Boy».

Her breakout moment came when «Princesses Don't Cry», originally from her Aviva-era EP, found a second life on TikTok and was re-released under her new stage name. The song later appeared on her 2020 EP «To Anyone Like Me» and received an accompanying music video, cementing it as her signature track. Songs like «Shot Me Down» and «Dandelion Dreams» continue her blend of confessional pop songwriting with rock and electronic textures.

Beyond music, CARYS has built a parallel career in film and television, known for playing Alya Kendrick in the Family Channel drama «Backstage» and Juniper in the sitcom «Workin' Moms».
