Caravan Palace

Caravan Palace is a French band formed in Paris in 2008, originally brought together to record the soundtrack for a vintage silent erotic film. That offbeat starting point shaped the group's early identity as a playful, retro-leaning outfit that fuses classic jazz and swing with modern electronic production, a hybrid approach that became a defining force in the electro swing genre.

The band's self-titled debut album and its follow-up, «Panic», established their signature sound: bouncing basslines, sampled horns and vintage-flavored swing rhythms layered under contemporary beats, topped by the charismatic vocals of Zoé Colotis. As a multi-instrumental outfit, Caravan Palace draws on violin, clarinet, saxophone, trombone and other classical instruments alongside electronic production, giving their music an unusually orchestral, live-band texture within an electronic dance framework.

Over subsequent releases such as «(Robot Face)» and «Chronologic», the group pushed further into electronic and experimental territory while retaining their brass-and-strings foundation, broadening their sound beyond strict swing revivalism. Tracks like «Lone Digger» and «Wonderland» brought them international visibility well beyond the French and European electro swing scene, cementing Caravan Palace's role as one of the genre's most recognizable ambassadors.
