Caramell

Caramell were a Swedish pop group formed in Sweden and active in the late 1990s and early 2000s, best remembered internationally for their song «Caramelldansen». The track became a global phenomenon years after its original release, when a sped-up remix set to looping animated GIFs spread through anime and internet meme communities, turning a fairly obscure Swedish dance-pop single into one of the defining sounds of early internet culture. Musically the group worked in a bright, bubblegum-eurodance style typical of Swedish pop production of the era, built on catchy synth hooks, upbeat tempos and cheerful, singalong vocals.

The band released two studio albums during their active years, offering a fuller picture of their sugary, dance-oriented sound beyond the one song that made them famous abroad. After the group's activity wound down, its members continued making music separately, keeping the Caramell name and its легacy alive through related projects even as the original lineup stopped performing together.
