Can Bonomo

Can Bonomo is a Turkish singer-songwriter born in 1987 in İzmir, where he grew up on the Aegean coast before moving to Istanbul, a city that became a major creative influence on his work. He began playing guitar at age eight and built a sound that blends Turkish folk and Mediterranean color with rock, pop and occasional rap-inflected phrasing, often paired with playful, theatrical songwriting and lyrics rooted in everyday absurdity and personal storytelling.

He released his debut album «Meczup» in 2011, and rose to wider international attention in 2012 when he represented Turkey at the Eurovision Song Contest with «Love Me Back». That same year he released «Aşktan ve Gariplikten», followed by «Bulunmam Gerek» (2014), «Kâinat Sustu» (2017) and «Ruhum Bela» (2018), each continuing his mix of nautical and folkloric imagery with contemporary pop-rock arrangements.

Beyond music, Bonomo is also a published poet and illustrator, releasing poetry collections including «Delirmek Belirmektir», «Şu Sevdalar Tevatürü» and the award-winning «Parya Koma», and contributing writing to literary magazines. This cross-disciplinary practice, spanning music, verse and visual art, has made him one of the more distinctive and versatile figures in contemporary Turkish pop.
