Calibre 50

Calibre 50 is a regional Mexican band formed in Mazatlán, Sinaloa, that plays the sierreño-banda hybrid sound often called “corridos alterados” or “movimiento alterado,” blending accordion-driven norteño instrumentation with tuba and drums. The group is fronted by singer and accordionist Edén Muñoz, alongside guitarist Armando Ramos, tuba player Martín López and drummer Erik “Terrible” Vega, and rose to prominence in the early 2010s as part of a wave of Sinaloa-rooted bands modernizing the corrido format for a younger, cross-border audience.

The band built its following with romantic ballads and corridos alike, scoring major hits such as «Corrido de Juanito», «Contigo» and «Siempre Te Voy A Querer», which helped it cross over from regional radio to mainstream Latin charts in the US and Mexico. Their catalogue mixes narco-corrido narratives with polished pop-leaning love songs, a duality that became their commercial signature and helped diversify their audience beyond traditional banda fans.

Over the 2010s Calibre 50 became one of the most consistently charting Regional Mexican acts, earning Latin Grammy recognition and multiple platinum certifications, while Edén Muñoz also built a parallel profile as a songwriter for other artists in the genre before later pursuing a solo career.
