Bruno Mars

Bruno Mars, born Peter Gene Hernandez in Honolulu, Hawaii, is an American singer, songwriter and producer known for genre-hopping between pop, R&B, funk and soul with a retro-modern sensibility. Raised in a musical family and performing publicly as a child in Hawaii, he moved to Los Angeles to pursue music and rose to fame first as a songwriter and hook man before launching his own solo career.

His 2010 debut «Doo-Wops & Hooligans» produced hits like «Just the Way You Are» and established him as a charismatic pop-soul frontman. He deepened his funk and new-wave leanings on «Unorthodox Jukebox», home to «Locked Out of Heaven» and «When I Was Your Man», then fully embraced 1980s-tinged funk and disco on «24K Magic», which yielded «That's What I Like» and the title track.

Working closely with his production team The Smeezingtons, Mars is celebrated for meticulous vintage-inspired arrangements paired with sharp pop songwriting and dynamic live performance. In 2021 he teamed with Anderson .Paak to form the duo Silk Sonic, releasing «An Evening with Silk Sonic», a loving tribute to 1970s soul that included «Leave the Door Open». Across his catalog, from ballads to uptempo funk workouts, he has remained one of contemporary pop's most technically skilled and commercially consistent performers.
