Briston Maroney

Briston Maroney is an Americana-tinged indie-rock singer-songwriter from Knoxville, Tennessee. He first drew national attention as a teenage contestant on American Idol, where his raspy, weathered voice stood out against his young age, and he later built his own path outside the show, learning guitar and songwriting on an acoustic that once belonged to his great-grandfather.

His sound blends scrappy rock energy with folk and Americana roots, drawing on songwriters like John Prine, Bob Dylan, and Neil Young while filtering them through a more ragged, emotionally direct indie-rock lens. After early independent releases, he signed with Canvasback Music (an Atlantic Records imprint), and his EP «Carnival» became the breakout moment of his career thanks to the viral single «Freakin' Out on the Interstate», which won praise from critics and fellow musicians alike.

Since then Maroney has continued releasing music marked by cracked-open vocals and confessional lyrics, with songs like «Rose», «Small Talk», and «Caroline» building on that foundation.
