Bonobo

Bonobo is the recording alias of British producer Simon Green, born and based around Brighton, England, who has been releasing music since the early 2000s. He emerged from the downtempo and trip-hop scene, first on the Tru Thoughts label before becoming a flagship artist for Ninja Tune.

His sound blends electronic production with organic instrumentation — strings, live percussion, saxophone, and guest vocalists — creating lush, cinematic textures that move between chillout, jazz-inflected electronica, and club-ready rhythms. Albums such as «Black Sands» and «The North Borders» are considered high points of his catalogue, showcasing his shift from bedroom-produced downtempo toward richly arranged, festival-scale live shows.

Green has collaborated with a wide range of vocalists and musicians, including Andreya Triana, whose debut album he produced, as well as Erykah Badu and Fink, and has earned a Grammy nomination for his work. Tracks like «Kerala» and «Cirrus» helped bring his sound to broader audiences, while he remains a central figure at Ninja Tune and in the wider electronic music landscape.
