Блестящие (Blestyashchiye)

Blestyashchiye (Блестящие, meaning «The Shining Ones») were a Russian pop girl group formed in Moscow in the mid-1990s by producer Andrei Grigoryev-Apollonov, a former member of the group Combination. Known for a lineup that rotated members over the years while keeping a glossy, glamorous image, the group became one of the defining acts of Russian pop music during the late 1990s and 2000s.

Their sound sits squarely in the Europop tradition popular in post-Soviet Russia: bright synth arrangements, catchy hooks, and an emphasis on visual style and choreography alongside music. Songs like «Восточные сказки» (Oriental Tales) leaned into exotic, orientalist imagery typical of the era's pop aesthetics, while «Новогодняя песня» became a staple of Russian New Year celebrations, a genre unto itself in Russian pop culture.

Blestyashchiye toured extensively across Russia and the former Soviet states and released multiple studio albums, cementing their place alongside contemporaries like Combination and Strelki in the girl-group wave of Russian pop.
