About the artist
Blanco White is the project of London-born musician Josh Edwards, who began recording under the name in 2014 after studying flamenco guitar in Cádiz, Spain, and the Andean charango in Sucre, Bolivia. His music weaves together Andalusian and Latin American folk traditions with English songwriting, creating a distinctive sound built around fingerpicked guitar, charango textures and soft, close-mic'd vocals.
His 2016 debut EP «The Wind Rose», released via Yucatan Records, introduced this cross-cultural folk approach, and the follow-up EP «Colder Heavens», produced with Ian Grimble (known for his work with Bear's Den, Matt Corby and Daughter), refined the sound further with richer arrangements while keeping its intimate, acoustic core.
Songs such as «Olalla», «Nocturne», «El Búho» and «Sol» reflect his recurring themes of travel, longing and place, often carrying Spanish-language titles that nod to his formative years abroad. Blanco White occupies a niche within folk and singer-songwriter music as an artist genuinely shaped by South American and Iberian musical traditions rather than borrowing them superficially.
