Bishop Briggs

Bishop Briggs, born Sarah Grace McLaughlin, is a Scottish-born, Los Angeles-based singer and songwriter whose music blends indie pop, rock, and electronic textures with a powerful, soul-inflected voice. Raised partly in Japan and Hong Kong as the daughter of Scottish parents, she took her stage name from Bishopbriggs, the town near Glasgow where her family originated, after briefly performing under the shorter name BISHOP.

She broke through internationally with «River», a brooding, percussive single that became a sleeper hit thanks to placements in television and film trailers, eventually amassing tens of millions of streams. The song set the tone for her sound: stomping beats, gospel-tinged vocal runs, and lyrics that move between vulnerability and defiance, heard on tracks like «Baby», «Dream», and «White Flag».

Her 2018 debut album Church of Scars established her as a distinctive voice in pop-rock, followed by CHAMPION in 2019, which leaned further into anthemic, empowerment-driven songwriting.
