About the artist
Big Gigantic is the Boulder, Colorado duo of saxophonist and producer Dominic Lalli and drummer Jeremy Salken, one of the acts that helped define the livetronica and jam-electronic scene of the late 2000s and 2010s. Rather than triggering samples from behind a laptop, the pair builds their sets around live sax and drums layered over programmed beats, bass, and hip-hop-leaning production, which is why they became such a fixture at festivals like Red Rocks and Electric Forest.
Their sound sits at a crossroads of jazz-funk, dubstep-era bass music, and pop songcraft, and over the years they leaned more into vocal-driven, radio-friendly material such as «Let Me Show You» and «The Little Things» alongside their improvisational instrumental jams. Guest vocalists and rappers frequently appear on their records, reflecting the group's roots in hip-hop as much as electronic dance music.
Big Gigantic built an independent, DIY touring and label operation around their music, which let them stay prolific across a long string of albums and EPs while keeping creative control. Their catalog spans early underground club and festival cuts through slicker, more polished pop-electronic singles in later years, making them a bridge between the jam-band festival circuit and mainstream EDM audiences.
