Big Data

Big Data is the recording project of American musician and producer Alan Wilkis, built around a concept of paranoia toward surveillance, data collection, and the way technology quietly shapes modern life. The project took shape while Wilkis was writing with Dan Armbruster of the band Joywave, a collaboration that produced the breakout track «Dangerous».

Musically, Big Data blends electronic production with rock and rap textures, layering glitchy synths and programmed beats under pointed, tech-anxious lyrics. «Dangerous», featuring Joywave, became the project's signature song, gaining traction through remixes and placement in film and television, and helping establish Big Data's identity as a sharp, idea-driven electronic act rather than a straightforward pop project.

Subsequent releases such as «The Glow», «Bombs Over Brooklyn», and «Big Dater» continued to explore themes of digital identity, social media, and online dating through a satirical lens. Wilkis has worked with a range of guest vocalists across Big Data's output, using the project as a vehicle for commentary on how deeply data and technology have embedded themselves into everyday relationships and behavior.
