Betty Who

Betty Who is the stage name of Jessica Anne Newham, an Australian singer and songwriter known for anthemic, synth-driven pop steeped in 1980s and 90s nostalgia. Born in Sydney, she trained as a classical cellist before moving to the United States to study music, eventually attending Berklee College of Music in Boston, where she met producer Peter Thomas, who helped shape her signature sound.

Her breakthrough came with «Somebody Loves You», released in 2012, which became a viral hit after being used in a widely shared public marriage-proposal video and later served as the flagship track of her debut album, Take Me When You Go (2014). She built a devoted fanbase through a string of EPs and albums marked by big hooks, glossy production, and an unabashedly emotional, danceable style that drew comparisons to 80s icons.

Beyond her own catalog, which includes songs like «I Love You Always Forever», «Human Touch», and «Taste», Betty Who has also written for other artists and performed on stage, including a run in Broadway's Kinky Boots.
