About the artist
Benjamin Bratt is an American actor of Peruvian and German descent, born in San Francisco, California in 1963. While primarily known for a long career on screen — including his role as detective Rey Curtis on «Law & Order» — he has also lent his voice to several musical film roles. His best-known musical contribution is voicing Ernesto de la Cruz, the charismatic and ultimately villainous singer-songwriter at the heart of Pixar's «Coco», performing songs including «Remember Me» within the film's soundtrack.
Bratt's musical presence on record is tied almost entirely to that role rather than to a standalone recording career. «Remember Me» became one of the most recognized songs to come out of a Pixar film, and Bratt's rendition of the character's version — distinct from the tender lullaby version sung elsewhere in the movie — captures the song's darker, showman side. His performance helped the soundtrack resonate with audiences well beyond the film's initial release, including live-arrangement versions performed at «Coco» concert events.
