BENEE

Stella Rose Bennett, known professionally as BENEE, is a singer-songwriter from Auckland, New Zealand, born in 2000. Growing up in a family with a strong background in theatre, she first learned saxophone and guitar before turning to songwriting, posting early tracks to SoundCloud during her final year of high school. That music caught the attention of producer Josh Fountain, who became a key early collaborator.

Her breakthrough single «Soaked» featured on triple j's Hottest 100 and went platinum in New Zealand, establishing her as one of the country's most promising young artists. She released her debut EP, FIRE ON MARZZ, in 2019, followed by Stella & Steve in 2020, which included collaborations with American musician Gus Dapperton and tourmate jack (stylized jack​​ berry).

BENEE's sound blends bedroom pop, alternative R&B, and playful electronic textures, marked by a laid-back, conversational vocal delivery and offbeat, self-deprecating humor in her lyrics. Her single «Supalonely» became a global viral hit, propelled by a dance trend, and helped introduce New Zealand pop to a much wider international audience. She has continued to explore themes of anxiety, awkwardness, and everyday absurdity across her catalogue, wrapping candid songwriting in bright, danceable production.
