About the artist
The Bee Gees were a group of brothers—Barry, and fraternal twins Robin and Maurice Gibb—born on the Isle of Man, who began performing and writing songs together as children after their family emigrated to Australia. They returned to England in the late 1960s to pursue a wider audience, quickly becoming one of the era's most successful pop acts under manager Robert Stigwood, known for lush harmonies and emotionally rich ballads such as «To Love Somebody» and «I Started a Joke».
After a fallow period in the early 1970s, the brothers reinvented themselves with a falsetto-driven, R&B-infused sound that became inseparable from the disco era. Songs like «Stayin' Alive», «How Deep Is Your Love», «Night Fever», and «You Should Be Dancing», many featured on the soundtrack to Saturday Night Fever, turned the group into global superstars and made them arguably the most successful group of the disco period, blending soul, funk, and pop songcraft into instantly recognizable records.
Beyond their own recordings, the Gibb brothers were prolific songwriters for other artists, extending their influence across pop and R&B. Their layered vocal harmonies, built on the brothers' intertwined voices, remain a defining hallmark of their sound, and their catalog spans from tender 1960s balladry to the falsetto-led disco anthems that defined a decade.
