Beach Bunny

Beach Bunny is an American indie pop band from Chicago, founded by singer-songwriter Lili Trifilio in 2015 as a solo bedroom-pop project. Trifilio began writing intimate, diary-like songs on acoustic guitar and ukulele before expanding the project into a full band in 2017 with the addition of Matt Henkels on guitar, Jonathan Alvarado on drums, and a rotating bassist role.

The band's breakout moment came with the song «Prom Queen», which went viral on TikTok and introduced their blend of jangly guitars, catchy hooks, and candid lyrics about body image, heartbreak, and self-doubt to a much wider audience. Signing with Mom + Pop Music, Beach Bunny released their debut full-length album, «Honeymoon», in 2020, followed by later releases that leaned further into a fuller, more polished pop-rock sound while retaining the emotional directness of Trifilio's early home recordings.

Over time the band's lineup has shifted, with bassist Anthony Vaccaro joining in 2019 and Henkels departing in 2022. Throughout these changes, Trifilio has remained the group's creative core, steering Beach Bunny from lo-fi solo demos into one of the more recognizable acts to emerge from the 2010s DIY indie pop scene.
